Guy Prest, Managing Director of KBIS British Equestrian Insurance, Steps Down

KBIS British Equestrian Insurance announces this week that Guy and Liz Prest, previous owners of KBIS will be stepping back. After more than 30 years as Managing Director, Guy will take on the role of Non-Executive Chairman and Liz will continue in a Non-Executive capacity.

KBIS British Equestrian Insurance was purchased by Guy and Liz Prest in 1991. Initially a bloodstock insurer, Guy and Liz grew the company over the years to become one of the UK’s leading independent horse insurance specialists, offering all types of equestrian insurance, from horse insurance to home insurance. In 2020, KBIS was purchased by Specialist Risk Group (SRG).

The day-to-day running of the company will be led by Lawrence Gill, who will be stepping up into the position of Executive Director. Having first joined KBIS in 2012, working in both the Equine and Liability teams, Lawrence joined a large insurance broking firm in London in 2016 where he was an Account Executive in the equine property and liability team, before returning to KBIS as a Company Director in 2018.

“After over 30 years at the head of KBIS, I am pleased to hand over the reins to Lawrence Gill. It is wonderful that he has come up through the ranks within the team and has a thorough understanding of how KBIS works and what the business stands for. With the support of SRG, we have no doubt that he will continue the success of KBIS” said Guy Prest

“I am excited to take on this new position and responsibility. I am passionate about KBIS, having worked my way up through the company from joining on work experience to stepping into the business leader role. I aim to continue looking after our customers by offering quality affordable cover and excellent service whilst creating a good working environment for everyone. At KBIS, I have a great team of knowledgeable and committed people and ‘home-grown’ managers around me who have all also come up through the ranks at KBIS, and their support over the coming years will be essential. I am looking forward to what the future holds for KBIS” added Lawrence Gill
