5 Ways To Make Your Horse Insurance Claim As Smooth As Possible

If your horse is ill or injured, it’s an understandably stressful time. Knowing how to make a claim on your horse insurance policy and get your claim assessed as quickly as possible will hopefully help to ease the worry, meaning you can concentrate solely on getting your horse back to feeling himself again.

Our Claims Team Manager Sarah shares 5 golden rules on how to make the process of claiming on your horse insurance policy as quick as possible:

  1. First things first, we’re starting simple, email everything. It might seem basic but email is quicker than post. It’ll save you time (and money on a stamp!). Send everything directly to claims@kbis.co.uk and you’ll receive a response to confirm we have received it.
  2. Secondly, complete the paperwork. If there are any gaps in the claim form, it’s likely that one of the team will have to come back to you to find out more information. The more detail there is on these forms, the less likely we are to need to ask further questions and the quicker your claim is processed.
  3. Top Tip no.3 is a clever one, include your BACS details in your email if you’d like to be paid directly. It saves us asking and you don’t have to wait for a cheque to arrive and then clear…
  4. My next tip would be to use our online claim forms. There is a section where you can attach all the documentation we’ll need, such as veterinary history and invoices. Ask your vet to email you a copy of each and then you’ll be able to upload them all in one go.
  5. Finally, send your vet their section of the claim form. You can email it, post it or drop it into the practice yourself. Regardless of how it reaches them, make sure they get it filled in and back to us pronto so they are not the cause of any delays.

This will hopefully help you if you need to make a claim on the veterinary fee or mortality section of your horse insurance policy. If you find yourself needing to claim against any other section, such as Public Liability or Personal Accident, you can download the relevant claim form and find out the next step.
