It is every equestrian’s dream to have their own yard. We have all lost time trawling property sites, daydreaming about indoor arenas with sound systems and American barns with chandeliers that are nicer than our homes. At KBIS, we are definitely guilty of our fair share of yard envy. So much so, that we’ve brought together our top yards we would buy if we won the lottery and popped them into this article for you.
Six yards we would buy if we won the lottery
From properties with palm tree-lined all-weather hack tracks to estates in the heart of the English countryside with enough land for all the horses we could dream of, here are our favourite yards we would invest in if money were no object.
1. Ribbonwood Stables, North Texas, USA
Made by Clayton Boyd Luxury Barns, you would be forgiven for thinking this horse yard is a manor house when you gaze at the striking stone exterior. Sitting in a staggering 150 acres, the facilities at Ribbonwood Stables are every equestrian’s dream come true.
Inside the gorgeous barn, you’ll find ten gigantic stables with fans to maximise airflow and keep horses cool, a wash area with hot and cold water, a tack room that looks like it’s been plucked out of a country house kitchen (complete with its own Belfast sink), laundry room, bathroom, office and a second story viewing area with its own patio. All that and we haven’t even mentioned the massive outdoor arena yet that measures in at 120 x 220!
2. The Long Barn, Buckinghamshire, UK
Nestled in 15 acres of gorgeous English countryside you’ll find 5* equestrian facilities at The Long Barn in Buckinghamshire. It boasts eight Scotts of Thrapston stables, a 50 x 25m floodlit arena, horse walker, hot and cold wash bay, solarium, tack room with kitchen, hay barn, as well as a six-bay barn with electric and water.
Our absolute favourite part of this property is the fact it comes with its own 7.2 acre cross country course and has extensive hacking with bridlepaths that head into the dreamy Salcey Forest. When can we move in?
3. Hanoverian Estate, Queensland, AUS
Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were lucky enough to have your own elite equestrian centre? We know we have. It really doesn’t get much more elite than Hanoverian Estate in Queensland, Australia. The ultimate training facility for serious competitors, every inch of this property exudes glamour.
One of the star features is the Olympic-sized indoor arena which is complete with mirrors, sound and video recording devices, lights, watering sprinklers, sound system and it even has internet. Aside from that, you will find five acres of paddocks, serenely surrounded by white post and rail fencing, eight huge stables, sand turnout pens, wash bays, and plenty of storage for all those saddle pads and numnahs.
4. Rhonehurst, Upper Lambourn, UK
If your equestrian property aesthetic is all about country charm, look no further than Rhonehurst in Upper Lambourn, UK. Located in 18.6 acres of gorgeous countryside, this property hosts an incredible 66 stables located across three yards (yes, you read that right!) some of which are traditional brick built in a stunning courtyard style and there are even indoor stables on offer too. You will be absolutely spoilt by the amazing facilities at Rhonehurst as it has its own equine pool, horse walker, and plenty of storage in the form of a hay loft, feed store, and mess room.
For competitors, there is easy access to East Soley EC2000 (6.3 miles), as well as Croft Equestrian Centre (20 miles) and Burley Lodge EC (30 miles).
5. Willow Creek Estancia, California, USA
Head over to America for a (big) slice of heaven at the Willow Creek Estancia in California. The breathtaking 77-acre estate has everything we have dreamt of and more. Featuring not one, but two state-of-the-art barns with towering ceilings, wooden beams, and picturesque flowers crawling up the exteriors, this property looks fresh out of a romantic novel.
In terms of facilities, you will get a massive outdoor arena, perfectly manicured grass jumping paddock, and trails with all-weather surfaces to explore. We don’t know about you, but we are already dreaming of galloping amongst the palm trees.
6. The Soelring Estate, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
A wide, tree-lined driveway will bring you to the Soelring Estate in Germany. Previously used as a stud farm for breeding Trakehners, the tranquil 3.63 acre-estate looks as if it belongs on a postcard.
It hosts a gorgeous indoor arena that’s encircled by large windows to bathe you in natural light during the day and overhead lights for night-time training sessions. If you prefer to train outdoors, you will get to pick from two well-maintained sand arenas and even a lunge pen. In terms of stabling, the property features a gorgeous wooden Dutch barn which is light and airy and backs out onto sand turnout paddocks. All this and did we forget to mention it has its own fully functional veterinary practice too?
