The KBIS Wellington Horse Trials has been established for four years and is now a firm favourite in the eventing calendar. The event took over from what was previously the KBIS Highclere Castle Horse Trials, but in 2011 the estate felt that they could no longer accommodate the horse trials and so the event was moved to the Duke of Wellington's estate within the year to be up and ready to run for the 2012 fixture. The event has gone from strength to strength and included a CIC*** competition in 2015 with the event being renamed Wellington International Horse Trials.
For the past six years KBIS were not only the title sponsors of the event but also joint organisers with the team at Wellington Riding.
The event takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend on the estate's ground at Highfield. The site offers the perfect location - gentle undulating ground for the cross country, good level pasture for the dressage, while the showjumping sits at the centre of the event with the trade stand area in front of Highfield Park House. Classes are run at BE100, Intermediate and Advanced, with additional attractions taking place in the second arena such as the fun dog show, hunt relay and celebrity high jump, there is plenty going on for all of the family to enjoy.
