Our Catastrophe Cover is an affordable vet fee option that can either be purchased as a standalone policy for just £300* or in conjunction with other cover benefits such as Mortality Insurance, Public Liability Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance, Trailer Insurance and/or Tack Insurance**.
This unique level includes vets fees up to a maximum of £7,500 in total during the policy period with a 15 month claim period. The cover is for accidental, external injuries only (i.e. involving an open wound), plus the inclusion of three life saving veterinary procedures; Colic surgery, joint or tendon sheath flushing as a result of sepsis, and surgery for pastern or pedal bone fractures.
It offers an alternative solution for those looking to have some form of insurance in place against major, lifesaving veterinary treatment for a much more affordable premium.
KBIS Foal Insurance policies offer cover for mortality from 24 hours old and vets fee insurance from 90 days old. If your foal is under 30 days old we will require a vets report with reference to the IGG levels, if your foal is aged between 31 and 89 days we will require a completed proposal form and if it is valued over £1,500 we will request a 2 stage vetting.

While our Leisure Horse scheme provides horse insurance at a lower cost for a wide range of horses, from hacking through to riding club, our Competition Horse scheme includes cover for the next level, with the option of Veterinary Fees up to £6,000 per incident.
KBIS offer a choice of cover options when it comes to Horse & Rider Insurance.
You can either include rider insurance on the same policy as your horse, or you can choose to have a stand-alone Personal Accident Policy. Our stand alone personal accident policy offers higher levels of cover, includes weekly benefits if you are unable to work and offers cover 24 hours a day even when you are not riding. If you choose to combine rider insurance within your horse policy, cover includes anyone riding or handling your horse with your permission (excluding professional riders). Benefits include payments for death or permanent disablement as well as some dental work.
For your horse insurance, we have tried to make our policies as flexible as possible allowing you to cater the cover to your requirements. Depending on your horse’s age and class of use you have the choice of up to ten different types of veterinary fee cover, which vary in excess and incident limits.
KBIS are able to provide both stand-alone Public Liability insurance for your horse(s) or, if you wish to insure the horse(s) for mortality and/or vet fee cover as well, then you can add public liability insurance onto our horse insurance policies.
Our stand-alone public liability policy includes cover for third party property damage and bodily injury should you be found legally liable. The policy not only covers you in the event that you are found legally liable but will also defend your position in court should Underwriters feel you are not responsible for an incident.
You can choose from a limit of £2,000,000 or £5,000,000 with annual premiums starting at £47.04.
If you would rather take out a horse policy and include public liability insurance then you can choose from an incident limit of either £1,000, 000, £2,000,000 or £3,000,000 for this cover option.
KBIS Sport Horse insurance is specifically designed for high value sport horses, typically valued above £20,000. The comprehensive policy provides cover for mortality and theft with extensions to include veterinary fee cover, permanent loss of use and tack cover.

In addition the policy automatically includes cover when the horse is in Western Europe and while the horse is in transit (including Aviation). You can therefore be sure when travelling to compete in these countries that you do not need to have any additional insurance in place.
KBIS offer full cover for accident, sickness, and disease for horses up to and including the age of 25. Unlike with other insurance providers, your horse does not need to have been insured with KBIS previously and cover can be taken out at any point.
Until your horse reaches 15 years of age you have access to up to 10 different vet fees options, ranging in excess, incident limits and cover. After 15 years of age, you then have a choice of up to five different vet fees options, across both our leisure and competition horse policies.
We can provide full veterinary fee cover, including accident, sickness, and disease for horses up to and including 25 years of age. We are also able to offer more limited cover for accidental, external injuries only for horses up to 30 years of age.
All of our veterinary fee options extend to 15 months cover from the onset date of the incident, meaning you have longer to claim (subject to your incident limit) compared to most other policies on the market.

Having a personal accident policy in place is essential for any rider.
Stand-alone personal accident insurance policies provide a more comprehensive level of protection than the cover typically found within a horse insurance policy or association membership. KBIS’ policy covers the policyholder for accidents and illness which occur whilst riding and also for the unfortunate incidents which can happen at any time, such as falling down the stairs or suffering from a long-term debilitating illness.
