After 10 years of sponsoring the Senior British Novice Championship Series KBIS have moved to a business sponsorship partnership with British Showjumping which helps to support the performance pathway programme via funding the International Stairway Series.
You can read about previous sponsorship with BS below.
KBIS started its support of British Showjumping with the sponsorship of the BS Amateur and Veteran Championships. In 2009 we then took on the British Novice Championships, the leading competition for grass roots riders. Now named the KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Series it attracts over 65,000 competitors each year.
The KBIS British Novice series is highly contested, set at a height of 90cm in the first round, it is suitable for amateur riders as well as professionals with young and novice horses. British Novice classes are run at numerous equestrian centres throughout the year providing plenty of opportunities to qualify for one the regional competitions and then the subsequent championship, which is held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.
In order to qualify for the championships, competitors must jump double clears in at least four British Novice Competitions between the 1st of May and the 30th April. Once completed you will then be eligible to ride in up to two of the twelve regional finals held throughout the country in May, June and July.
Those riders who go on to gain a treble clear at a Regional Final then qualify for the Championships held as part of the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. Here the fences start at a height of 1.05m and go up to 1.15m in the jump off, there are normally around seventy combinations who reach the Championships and it always makes for an exciting competitive class.
