KBIS started its involvement with British Eventing in the late nineties through a regional series. In 2006 the opportunity arose to take on the title sponsorship of the Junior Regional Novice (JRN) series, supporting Britain’s up and coming young riders. Now referred to as the ON Under 18 series KBIS supported both the qualifiers and Championships for 10 years and for the last fours years did so whilst also supporting the Young Horse Series and Championships.
In 2016 we decided to move our sponsorship focus solely towards the Young Horse series and Championships, although we also continue to support BE’s training and education programme with a particular focus on U18 training. We are also involved with a number of individual events, sponsoring fences at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse trials and holding the title sponsorship at the KBIS Wellington Horse Trials.
The KBIS British Eventing Young Horse Series and Championships
The young horse series offers qualifying classes at BE90 level for four-year-olds and BE100 level for five-year-olds, in total there are forty qualifying events across both series. One in every ten starters at each qualifying class will be eligible to compete at the prestigious Young Horse Championships held at Osberton International in October. The Championships also include a six-year-old CIC* Championship and a seven-year-old CIC** Championship, for which combinations have to qualify via the standard minimum eligibility requirements set out by British Eventing for that level of competition.
Former proteges of the Championship have included the prolific stallion and Badminton Champion, to name but a few of his achievements, Chili Morning and numerous four-star campaigners such as Redesigned, Cool Mountain and Ceylor LAN, who has claimed the 5YO, 6YO and 7YO titles at Osberton in past years.Osberton International, run by BEDE Events, is a fantastic venue and every year a team from KBIS stay up at the event. We provide hospitality at the KBIS water fence for owners, riders and spectators as well as a complimentary happy hour for riders every night! We are delighted to be involved with this series and in a position where we can support the talent of the sport’s future.
