Social Gathering Update – 14/09/2020
As a result of the latest update to government advice (09/09/2020) with effect from Monday 14th September 2020, we have been receiving an increased number of enquiries relating to how this impacts on your insurance cover.
Our position remains as follows: Providing government guidelines are being followed and all legal requirements are being met, all of our policies continue to remain unchanged by coronavirus. However, failure to adhere to government guidelines and/or legal requirements could result in your policy not providing any cover.
We recommend risk assessments are regularly updated to take the current situation into account. All procedures must also be updated in line with the new legislation to ensure they are COVID safe. The British Horse Society have put together some resources on risk assessments which can be found here.
As there has been confusion surrounding whether the current advice would impact on equestrian sport in England, Sport England have today (10/09/2020) clarified their stance on the latest update to confirm:
While social gatherings of more than six people will be banned in England from 14 September, the government’s confirmed that organised sports and activities that have been through return to play protocols can continue, as can organised outdoor sports and physical activity.
