Joint Statement from Underwriters QIC Europe Limited and KBIS British Equestrian Insurance
In conjunction with our Leisure and Competition Horse Insurance Underwriters QIC Europe Limited, we have issued the following statement in response to the current restrictions in place as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic:
“KBIS is aware of the concerns of our Policyholders and Veterinary Surgeons, over the impact of the lockdown of Veterinary Practices for all but emergency treatment and that their claim might, therefore, run beyond the extension period.
The extension period under the Policy relates to Permanent Loss of Use and Veterinary Fee claims and runs for 450 days from the date of the incident.
In light of the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, extension periods may be extended at our discretion in appropriate cases. In those cases, policy terms and conditions will remain unchanged and incidents should continue to be notified in the usual way.
We ask that Policyholders keep us up to date on their individual situations including details of their veterinary surgeon’s treatment plan and booked appointments, to allow us to consider the circumstances of each claim.”
For queries in relation to individual policies and claims, please contact the office on 0345 230 2323. Whilst our staff work remotely to keep them safe, our telephone lines are open and we are here to help. Please note, this statement is only in relation to Leisure and Competition policies, it does not apply to our Sport Horse Insurance policies that are underwritten by Markel International Insurance Company Ltd and Catlin XL Insurance Company UK Ltd.
