Tom Wins Hambleden JRN Section

PRESS RELEASE

Tom Strong, based in Oxfordshire, secured first place at Hambleden Horse Trials in the KBIS British Equestrian Junior Regional Novice Section.

Tom (17) won on his bay gelding, Cupido Z with a good dressage score of 32.9 and completed the show jumping and cross-country phases without any penalties. Known as Q, Cupido Z is 16.3hh and a big horse to get around the dressage arena.

Said Tom: “It was a total surprise when I had found out I won as the scores were quite close. And although Q is big and he covers the ground well through cross country, this is actually the first event that we have managed to get around within the time.

“Q is only seven-years-old, so I am going to take things steady and carry on with Novices this season and possibly move up to intermediates next year.”

Tom also has another little horse called Willow. She took part in the Pre-Novice at Hambleden and achieved a second place ridden by Tom’s instructor Tina Federholm, who has taught Tom since he was 11-years-old.
