The JRN series gets underway at Great
Witchingham, on March 25 and concludes with the JRN Championships at
Weston Park in October which is run as a CCI*.
The Junior Regional Novice programme is designed to provide riders
with competitive experience competing against other riders of the
same age. This develops a greater understanding of the sport and
enables riders to further their riding career. It also provides a
stepping stone between the Pony Programme, Pony Club and those ready
to take part in the Junior Team Selection Programme.
The JRN Programme is open to all eligible juniors who have their
14th to 18th birthday in the current year and are members of British
Eventing and have registered with their regional coordinator. Riders
must be capable of competing at British Eventing Novice level.
Liz Prest of KBIS British Equestrian
said: “We are very pleased to be supporting the Junior Regional
Novice Series with British Eventing. It is a great series and truly
innovative, something we pride ourselves on at KBIS British
Equestrian. The sponsorship is an exciting new venture for Kbis
British Equestrian and we are looking forward to working alongside
British Eventing to continue to help the JRN series grow and
develop. At KBIS British Equestrian a number of our staff have
evented over the years, progressing from the JRN series to
representing Great Britain. We feel very close to the eventing scene
and are delighted to be involved with a series that so many of our
team can relate to.”
As part of the series the country is divided into eight regions,
each with its own Junior Regional Co-ordinator. Each region runs
three or four qualifying JRN classes per area. Riders must compete
in the JRN classes in order to qualify for the Championships held at
Weston Park at the end of the season.
To qualify for the JRN Championships the horse and rider, as a
combination, must have completed two JRN’s without cross country
penalties in their own region and finished in the first three in one
of them, and be judged, at the Co-ordinators discretion, ready to
compete in a Three Day Event (CCIJ*).
The JRN Programme and JRN Championships will now be known as the
KBIS British Equestrian Junior Regional Novice Programme and the
KBIS British Equestrian Junior Regional Novice Championships. KBIS
British Equestrian is one of the country’s leading equestrian
insurance firms. KBIS was established in 1986 and is now a leader in
riding and competition horse insurance, as well as having a
bloodstock division.
