KBIS British Equestrian Prizes Awarded at Olympia

PRESS RELEASE

KBIS British Equestrian was delighted to support the Dressage Horse of the Year, Show Jumping Horse of the Year and The Event Horse of the Year at this year’s Olympia Horse Show.

The KBIS British Equestrian Dressage Horse of the Year was awarded to Manitu-N, a 14.2hh 15-year-old bay, owned by Tracey Harrison and ridden by Samantha Harrison.

This remarkable stallion was originally brought to the UK from Germany by Ian Woodhead and Ferdi Eilberg, and has been at the forefront of British Pony Dressage for the past eight years, carrying three different young riders to success.

The KBIS British Equestrian Show Jumping Horse of the Year was awarded to Arko lll; a 16.2hh, 12-year-old owned by John Hales and Lisa Hales, and ridden by Nick Skelton.

This stallion ranked number 1 from September 2005- August 2006, and was awarded the Leading Nations Cup Horse and Leading Horse at the BSJA Ball in January. This year he has won many prizes around the globe including winning the Dubai Classic, the Longines Grand Prix in Lucerne, and the Castle Ashby Grand Prix.

The KBIS British Equestrian Event Horse of the year Award was awarded to Toytown, a 15-year-old 17hh gelding, owned by Zara Phillips.

Toytown and Zara Phillips rode into the record books this year after a remarkable victory in The World Equestrian Games in Aachen in August when they landed the World Championship title and helped the British Team win the Team Silver Medal; the first British rider to do so for 10 years.

Zara Phillips, owner of Toytown, also received a Silver Salver and a bottle of champagne, along with a KBIS rug for Toytown.

Each of these prizes were awarded by Guy Prest of KBIS British Equestrian. “We are delighted to support the KBIS British Equestrian Horse of the Year Awards. The three horses, Arko lll, Toytown and Manitu-N are very special athletes and together with their riders have made a huge impact on their individual discipline.” Said Guy Prest.
