Nicola Puts Up A Top Performance At Dressage Championships

PRESS RELEASE

Nicola Tustain and the 14-year-old Prinz Heinrich captured the judges eye when heading the Grade II Kbis Disabled Dressage Rider Championship at the Blue Waters National Dressage Championships at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

Based in Corwen, North Wales, multi-medal winning Paralympic rider Nicola and Prinz Heinrich, owned by Sarah Pidgley, are a long-standing partnership which showed throughout their performance.

Competing at Medium level in able-bodied competitions, they were clearly on form at the national championships, with all their hard work and training over recent months paying of.

Said Nicola: “I was very pleased with how he went in the championships, he was really on form, very rideable but also expressive, I couldn’t have asked for more.

“We have done a lot of training this year, on the competition side it has been a bit quieter and we have been busy with para training. Prinz Heinrich was really on form and I delighted with his work.

“He is an amazing horse and I feel very honoured to be given the opportunity to ride and compete with him.”

Nicola has help from Michel Assouline, Ferdi Eilberg and Pammy Hutton, who has trained her for eight years.

She started riding at the age of three on her grandfather’s riding ponies and when taking up dressage was quickly bitten by the bug with help from her local RDA centre.

Nicola receives the winners rosette and sash from Liz Prest of KBIS Insurance.
