K
bis 2006 Scholarship - Daniel Moseley’s Diary

KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Scholar Daniel Moseley has had another busy month competing.

Here we catch up with him in his latest diary. Based at Blyth the talented young rider has had a hectic few weeks on the show circuit and with his growing team of horses.

May 2007

I have had a very busy time abroad this month at various shows in France, which was very exciting.

However I started the month competing at the Newark and Notts County Show, where I competed with Shadow Breaker, Port Royal, U2 the First and Utopia Red. They all jumped really well and I achieved a 6th place with Utopia Red in the Horse of the Year Show qualifier, but unfortunately only the first three placings qualify.

We have recently bought a new horse this month called Lucy May. She is a very talented, 13-year-old, bay, mare, measuring 16.2hh. She loves her job and knows exactly what she’s doing when in the show jumping ring. Lucy May and Port Royal competed in Auvers, in France, this month too. Achieving a third place with Port Royal in a big speed class and another third place in the Nations Cup with Lucy May; which was really pleasing as we’ve only owned Lucy may for three-weeks. I really enjoy riding Lucy May as she’s different to my other horses; she’s more experienced and has seen more fences, so I’m positive we can achieve a lot together this year.

I ended my month on a high by achieving second place in Compiegne, in France, in the Nations Cup riding Lucy May. I also took Shadow Breaker to Compiegne and we got placed everyday in the speed classes; which was a great success in itself. We arrived home the Monday morning after the show at 4:00am, exhausted from the journey home. I’ll be glad to be at home for the next few weeks to recover from all the travelling around.

Next month I look forward to hearing about the U18 European Championship Team. I am currently in the last 10 riders, and it’s the top five that are picked for the team.

Look forward to writing next month - best wishes Daniel.
