2006 Scholarship - Daniel Moseley’s Diary
KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Scholar Daniel Moseley has had a busy month competing.
Here we catch up with him in his latest diary. Based at Blyth the talented young rider has had a hectic few weeks on the show circuit and now has his sights firmly set on qualifying for the major shows.
March 2007
Apart from the usual training at home with schooling all the horses’ everyday and doing many jumping exercises in the school, I have also been competing at two of the many premier shows.
I went to Towerlands in the middle of this month and competed on Port Royal, Think Twice and Utopia Red in the Grade C class and they all performed really well. I also rode U2 The First for the first time at an event. He is one of the stallions at the new yard that I have just recently moved to. He also competed really well in the Foxhunter class.
I also took part at the premier show at Arena UK at the end of this month. I competed U2 the First in the performance class and Think Twice and Port Royal in the They all went really nicely but unfortunately didn’t get high enough scores to come anywhere. However, it was still good to take them out and to compete in the classes.
I have a lot of competitions to look forward to next month. The horses and I will be very busy. Next week I am going to Addington Premier Show for two days with Port Royal and Shebeen. I am taking Shebeen as she doesn’t get competed as much over the winter shows as I don’t compete her indoors, so it was good to take her out to see the sights. However, it is also the last qualifier for the championships at the British Open so I have hopes for Port Royal in the qualifying class.
I have also got the Blue Chip Championships in two weeks time where I will take the young horses, Utopia Red and U2 The First, to have a round for further experience. I am going to start competing one of the other horses this month too, called Waldo. He is just four-years-old and I’m going to enter a few performance classes with him to see how he goes.
I am generally looking forward to the outdoor shows and events now for the spring. I prefer jumping outdoors in the sun as you seem to have more room to move around the ring.
Look forward to writing next month after my exciting and busy month ahead
Best wishes, Daniel.
