K
bis 2006 Scholarship - Daniel Moseley’s Diary

KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Scholar Daniel Moseley has had a more relaxing month in October.

Here we catch up with him in his latest diary.

October 2007

October was a quiet month, as all the horses were having a break before we start competing again towards the end of November.

It’s nice for both the horses and me to have a break from each other; especially the youngsters as you can sometimes do too much with them and there is a fine line between training and making them bored or stressed.

I will start competing again towards the end of this month at the Towerlands** International Show. At Towerlands I will be competing Lucy May in the big International classes, and also U2 The First in the six-year-old classes. I’m really looking forward to it as it gives me such a thrill competing against riders from all over Europe. Towerlands is a four-day show, and as it’s International, we will arrive the day before so in the morning of the first day we are ready for the vetting and trot-up.

U2 The First

Apart from getting ready for Towerlands it has been really nice to have such a relaxing month. With the youngsters being another year older in 2008, we can start to compete in the age classes and push them that little bit further and it gives me a change to compete the five-year-old, Waldo, in the six-year-old classes next year.

Waldo

Waldo is a 16.2hh stallion with a real character. He is a really talented horse and I think has the possibility of a big future ahead of him. Waldo is owned by Juliet Harrison, who also owns the Derby House Stud and yard where I keep my horses.

Before Christmas, I am also looking forward to the Hartpury College show, which is another four-day big show with a great atmosphere, there is some good money prizes so I will be aiming to take some home. For most of this month, I will be getting Lucy May and U2 The First fit and ready for Towerlands.

Looking forward to writing next month – best wishes Daniel.
