K
bis 2006 Scholarship - Daniel Moseley’s Diary

KBIS British Equestrian Insurance Scholar Daniel Moseley spent seven days at the Scope Festival of Show Jumping at the end of August.

Here we catch up with him in his latest diary.

August 2007

I have had a very exciting month in August entering a lot of final qualifiers for championships at various events like HOYS.

Earlier in August I competed at the Addington Manor Show in the KBIS British Equestrian Insurance 6-year-old qualifier with Utopia Red. We jumped a double clear round which gave us a real confidence boost before jumping in the final qualifier, of the KBIS British Equestrian Insurance 6-year-old Series, at the Scope Festival of Show Jumping.

I spent over a week at the Scope Festival of Show Jumping competing almost every day. The atmosphere is always amazing and such good fun at Scope. It’s nice to meet up with friends that I only get to see once in a while. I also met up with Liz Prest, of KBIS British Equestrian Insurance, and she kindly presented me with my rosette after jumping a double clear on Utopia Red in the 6-year-old series qualifier which KBIS British Equestrian Insurance very kindly sponsor.

I am so pleased with the results from Utopia Red in the 6-year-old series, and I am delighted to say that we have qualified for the final at the Horse of the Year Show, which is held at the NEC Birmingham on the 5th October. Not only was Utopia Red on fine form at Scope, but Waldo also jumped himself into second place in the Style and Performance class. There were 96 entries in this class with only 16 qualifying to jump in the final round. I was so proud of him to have jumped so well at only four-years-old.

I also competed on my top ride, Lucy May, where we came ninth in the Gentleman’s Championships, and twelfth in the Grand Prix class which reached 1.60m. She was on top form at Scope which was great - she really does fly over those fences. Shadow Breaker was also placed at Scope in the National Grade B Championships, gaining a second place which was fantastic. I had such a successful week!

Next month I am taking Lucy May to Towerlands to compete in the Wild Card Qualifier for HOYS. This will be a lot of fun as it is our first qualifier. So I will let you know my results next month. I will also be able to tell you all about the Arena UK Festival which begins in the middle of September. I will be competing five of the horses there so fingers crossed our luck rolls on.

Will write soon – best wishes Daniel.
