Bringing On The Younger Ones
It is sad to see Dunauger unhappy stabled up all the
time due to his injury, he has been behaving well and I hope to hear
some good news when the vet visits in September. With Dunauger on
box rest, I have had plenty of time to concentrate on teaching and
competing my young horse Forget Me Not.
I have been really busy
teaching at Pony Club camp, it’s always fun but it is also very
tiring trying to keep a group of children occupied and having fun as
well as getting down to some serious stable management.
I have also been preparing Forget Me
Not for the forth coming events. She has been doing really well and
is showing that she is ready to go further.
At the beginning of the
month I took her to an unaffiliated event at Skipton. As she has had
some time off I thought that this would help her get back into
competing again. She went really well and we came home with a third.
I have also been to Richmond
One Day Event where Forget Me Not did her first Novice event. With
an excellent dressage score of 27 and clear cross-country with only
a few time faults, it was a little disappointing to have a fence
down in the showjumping. I was pleased with her performance though,
the time faults were my error because I held back and she is still
only a young horse needing a lot more experience.
Since Richmond I have been BSJA
showjumping at Northallerton where she has been jumping Discovery
and Newcomers with ease. This will help increase her confidence and
give her more experience in the showjumping phase when we are
eventing. We are now aiming for our next Novice class at
Northallerton One Day Event on bank holiday Monday at the end of
this month.
September is looking rather
quiet, but we will be busy working towards the Pre-novice three-day
event at Oasby in October and the Novice two-day event at Aldon
later in the month. Hopefully next month there will be plenty of
good news from Forget Me Not’s outings, and I will let you know how
Dunauger is getting on. Keep working hard!
