Stepping Up A Gear

Now that the weather is starting to change for the better, I am delighted to report another successful and busy month for both Dunauger and Forget Me Not.

I took Dunauger to a CCI** three day event in Hampshire at the beginning of the month. I was really pleased with his performance and was placed 25th out of 143 other horse and rider combinations. This gained us the all important qualifying score so he can compete at the next level. Next on the agenda for Dunauger is Barbury Castle in Wiltshire on the 8th and 9th July. This will be his first event at CIC*** level.

Dunauger is now well on track in the run up to the ever important Blenheim Horse Trials in September which I am very excited about. Also this month my five-year-old mare Forget Me Not competed in her first Pre-Novice event at Hexham One Day Event. I was over the moon with her performance, she went really well and was placed 8th. This will stand her in good stead for the busy weekend ahead. I will be taking her to the Young Event Horse Qualifier at Bramham on Friday where I am hoping we will qualify for the finals.

Also this weekend I will be taking Forget Me Not to the Northallerton One Day Event where she is entered for the PAVO British Breeding Championship Qualifier. I am also hoping to qualify for the Championships in this event which are held in October.

At the minute I am about to take both horses to a Kenneth Clawson clinic at a local riding school down the road. Kenneth is one of the leading Event trainers and he currently trains the Olympic Eventing team and is the British squad showjumping trainer. His pupils are the likes of Mary King, Rodney Powell and Kitty Boggis.

Anyway, both horses are loaded in the lorry and ready to go, so must dash. Hopefully next month I will have some more good news and will let you know how we get on at Braham and Northallerton. Until then, happy riding!
