April 2006

A Month of Successes!

I am delighted to report that April has been a fantastic month for both Dunaguer and Forget Me Not. Following the cancellation of Witton Castle Horse Trials I managed to get a late entry for Belton. It was worthwhile going as Dunaguer wet really well, and the whole day turned out to be excellent. He respected the bigger jumps and showed his true talent on the course. We finished 20th overall against some great competition without going for the time so I am delighted with the results.

I also took Dunaguer on our first trip to the Winter Dressage Championships at Solihull where we competed in the open combined training class. We came third equal so I was really proud of him; especially as the event took place so soon after Belton and we were competing in a completely different environment in an indoor arena with loads of atmosphere.

Forget Me Not has also been to a one-day event where she also went very well, and we finished sixth. She really is moving forward now and I am delighted with her progress.

Now that the weather is warmer and the fields are drying out I have been able to do a lot more fitness with both horses. We are now working up to the CIC** at Osbaldeston, and the CC1** at Twesledown with Dunaguer, both of which are big events. Forget Me Not will also be competing in an affiliated BE pre-novice event so next month looks set to be a really busy one.

Hopefully there will be more good news next month but for now, happy riding!
