Kbis Sponsored Rider - Tracey Garside's Diary

As part of our exciting scholarship scheme, our 2005 scholar Tracey Garside has been keeping us up to date with her busy life in the eventing world.

March 2006

A Wet And Rainy March

Well I’m disappointed to say that JAS was nothing great, we performed well but not well enough to meet the grade. Still it was a great experience and I am holding high hopes for next year.

I also took Dunauger to Aston le Walls, a two day course which was excellent, and gave us good preparation for the busy season ahead.

Next we travelled to Isleham Horse Trials. Dunauger found the whole experience somewhat exciting as it was the start of the outdoor season which made things quite difficult for me! All in all it was not a great day, the course was twisty and quite difficult. It was also so cold the water jumps had frozen, otherwise the water jumping complex looked quite good.

We had a better day later in the month when we went to Lincoln, where they have a really good galloping track which was fun. I was also due to take Dunaguer to Witton Castle Horse Trials which I always look forward to but it was cancelled due to wet weather conditions. It’s a big shame as it would have been a good experience for him.

I am spending a lot of time working on Dunaguer at the moment and hanging fire with Forget Me Not as she is only young. I keep taking her to lots of unaffiliated one day events and we have a good event coming up at Richmond shortly which will be good practice.

I am really looking forward to some warmer weather now we are into Spring, up here in Harrogate we have had loads of rain which has not been great for riding, and I have had a horrendous cold which seems to have lasted for ages! I suppose all the travelling around and sleeping in the horse box has not helped me to get better.

Coming up next is Belton Horse Trials which is a very prestigious event so I’ll let you know how I got on next month, hopefully with some good news!
