Back on Form

KBIS Starchaser (Star) and Izzy Taylor were on form at Carlton Horse Trials, their first event in over three months and since Izzy has returned to riding after the birth of her baby boy in June.

Star jumped a confidant double clear in the Novice, adding just 5.6 time penalties to his dressage mark of 33.5, to finish in sixth place overall in section B. Said Izzy ‘He felt on great form and it was lovely to be back riding him again. Our flatwork training with Sarah Ward had obviously paid off as it was the first time that I felt like we managed to fit more than five strides in down the long side of the dressage arena. He has such a big movement it has been difficult in the past to balance him but he felt much improved today.’

Star and Izzy’s next outing will be at Aston Le Walls, on Friday 13 August, where they will be competing in the Intermediate Novice section. Intermediate Novice is intended to be a stepping stone for horses looking to upgrade, the dressage test is a Intermediate test, while the show jumping is set at a height of 1.20m, in between Novice, at 1.15m and Intermediate at 1.25m. The cross country then takes place over the Novice course.
