The Last of the British Novice Regional Finals
The last of the twelve KBIS Insurance British Novice Regional Finals took place on Saturday 18th July at the prestigious Scottish National Equestrian Centre in West Lothian.
The equestrian centres event manager George Blackie was delighted with the day, which he said went extremely well. The class took place on the centres outdoor international arena and with thirty-three riders starting in the class there were two qualifying places up for grabs for the Championships.
Four combinations managed to jump three faultless rounds so it was just a matter of seconds deciding who would go home with their qualifying ticket. Both Carla Bolam and Alexander Laird put up good performances but were just two seconds short of Laura Watt and eventual winner, by the narrowest of margins, Ian Warnock.
Ian and Laura both from Lanarkshire had just two tenth of a seconds separating them but in the end Ian’s eight year old 16.3hh bay gelding pipped Alison's nippy 14.2 gelding to first place. Both riders now have just over six weeks to prepare for the Championships, where they will join the other qualified combinations to battle it out for the title of KBIS Insurance British Novice Champion. The Championships will be taking place on Monday 30th August at the Cushionbed
British Show Jumping Scope Festival, to be held at Stafford County Showground.
