On the Move
Izzy Taylor and Oli Smith are busy packing up their yard in anticipation of their move next week to their new base, Lyneham Heath Equestrian in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
Their new set up will provide them with some enviable facilities to include 28 internal stables, an under cover horse walker, both an indoor and outdoor school and use of the centres cross country course. They will also have their own office which will include internet access and a TV which they plan to use for training purposes, to watch back schooling sessions as well as allowing them to show owners and potential clients videos of their horses.
Izzy and Oli have the task of moving 25 horses between them to the new yard, which will include KBIS Starchaser (Star). Once settled they plan to run the yard as one enterprise and will sit down together at the end of the day to make plans for each of the horses for the following day. Although they both have their own established training regimes Izzy said ‘we do like to help each other out and take ideas from one another’. Izzy is now benefitting from dressage training with Sarah Ward, who Oli has trained with since his Pony Club days, while Oli will be having his first session with Lucinda Green next week from whom Izzy has been having help since the age of about 12!
Lynham Heath is owned by Sam Sandberg who brought in Olympic course builder David Evans to build the new schooling facility, which has over 100 fences across 130 acres of grassland. Sam has also invested in specialist ground equipment to ensure optimum ground conditions throughout the year.
