KBIS at Longleat
Over half of the KBIS office descended upon Longleat International Horse Trials on Saturday 19th June for the KBIS sponsored Novice day of the trials. Not only were staff members out in force but KBIS Starlet (Doris) also made a successful appearance in Novice section I where she put in yet another double clear with rider Georgie Spence to take 4th place - narrowly missing out on taking home a KBIS Insurance voucher!
This is the second year that KBIS have sponsored the Novice classes and with the event located just over an hour away from the KBIS offices in Newbury it provides the perfect opportunity for everyone at KBIS to enjoy a day out and a picnic while supporting the event.
Longleat is always a popular event amongst riders and this year was no exception. With the stunning backdrop of Longleat House, it is possible to forgive the odd sea lion that distracts horses during their dressage test, including Doris!
Georgie and Doris after their dressage test with some of the KBIS team
The Saturday ran smoothly with six novice sections including a JRN and NRF, William Fox Pitt claimed two of the Novice sections while Kirsty Johnston had her first win of the season with Opposition Detective in the competitive NRF leaving Georgie Spence having to settle for second on one of her other rides Jovial Valentino.
Tom Grant riding his own eight year old took Cloncolman Lad took the KBIS JRN section. This is their third season together and Longleat provided their first win together in what is also their first season contesting in the JRN series.
The CIC ** trot up and dressage tests also took place on the Saturday. Helen Wilson held the lead overnight after producing a very good test with just 41.6 penalty marks on board Burnt Cohiba who won the same class at Brigstock International just four weeks earlier. Unfortunately two poles down in the show jumping the following day meant that they dropped down into fourth place leaving Kitty King and Bee Animas to take first place at the close of the event.
